Celebrating His Life
The Light and Legacy
of Carsen James Perry
This scholarship isn’t simply about performance. It’s about character. It’s about investing in young men and women who love their family, care for their animals, work before sunrise, and lift others as they climb.
Carsen loved his family fiercely. If he wasn’t chasing coyotes with his dad, rodeoing with Papa Chris, or riding in the tractor with Papa Gene, he was at a futurity with his Uncle Justin. He was rarely alone, always with a cousin, sibling, or buddy beside him. At 6-C Bucking Bulls, it wasn’t unusual to see him leading the charge at feed time, with five or six others trailing behind, learning from him without even realizing it.
He was a natural-born leader, not because he demanded it, but because he lived it. His smile was contagious. His “Cowboy grin” could turn around the toughest day. And no matter what he had going on, he always had time to help someone else.
At only fourteen, Carsen was already an accomplished stock contractor and competitive bucking bull trainer. In his second year as an ABBI Junior member, he and his futurity bull, 791 Motley Crew, competed in 18 events and picked up 15 checks. Just weeks before this world lost him, they finished the season in Las Vegas with 91.36 and 90-point outs, earning the Junior Futurity Reserve World Champion title.
But the buckle was never the whole story.
The early mornings. The care he gave his animals. The pride he took in doing things right. The way he brought others alongside him, that’s what truly defined him as a “Bull Man.”
Founded in 2024, the Carsen Perry Legacy Scholarship exists to carry that spirit forward. It honors young stock contractors who embody the same grit, humility, faith, and heart that Carsen showed every day, in the arena and at home.
